HEELS AND HOLSTERS – AN OVERVIEW OF THE CC HOLSTER FASHION SHOW

Kitty Richards’ awesome gun heels

Although all the hype about  the Concealed Carry Holster Fashion Show was primarily about the runway show itself, there was really much more to the event than just heels and holsters.  In fact, there was an entire day and evening of education available for women interested in responsible firearm ownership and use

Some notes about the event :

  • The purpose of the event was to educate, empower and enable safe and responsible firearm ownership
  • Tickets sold out in advance – we expect a larger group next year!

LIVING IT UP AT CRIMSON TRACE MEDIA DAYS

Saturday night, my husband, Dave and I checked in to Hotel 50 in downtown Portland, Oregon to kick off the Crimson Trace Media Days. After meeting up with Shelley Rae from Western Shooting Journal, we headed down to Portland City Grill for happy hour and dinner with the media group as well some really great reps from Nike, Otis, Danner, and of course Iain and the gang from Crimson Trace. Leatherman was kind enough to sponsor our dinner and drinks and provide us each with a LED LENSER P3 flashlight.… Read the rest

TAKING A STAND ON THE UN ARMS TREATY

This is not a political blog, the second amendment is for everybody, despite their political views. The right to choose whether or not to own firearm does not discriminate. The right to defend one’s self does not discriminate.  It’s about having the ability and the freedom to make a choice.

There are people who are attacking that right, that freedom to make a choice. The NRA’s stance here is right on and  it makes me proud.

DRIVING ARMED – Safely Stowing Your Firearm

Carrying a gun creates all sorts of obstacles, and part of the fun is learning how to overcome them.  One of the obstacles that we often forget to learn how to work around,  and practice overcoming is carrying in a vehicle.

I know, I know … we’d all love to just forget about this  issue and have Red Jacket build us each our own armored vehicles. I wonder what kind of magic they could work on a pink Humvee?

For those of you who don’t have the option of destroying the enemy with the push of a button from inside your vehicle, I submit to you this article – the first in the “Driving Armed” series that I will be publishing.… Read the rest

“I WILL NEVER…” PART 1: CORE BELIEFS

A few months ago, I posted an article The Hard Questions – Gracie’s Fireside Chat. This article posed a handful of questions that every person should consider before they carry a gun, or expect to use one for defense. It was also a key article in my series on the defensive mindset. Today we continue the project of  asking ourselves tough questions so that we can continue to build our personal tactical doctrine.

My Sifu once told the whole class that our home work was to make an “I will never …” list.… Read the rest

HOT CALIBER – THE STORY BEHIND THESE BULLET THEMED BEAUTIES

Hot Caliber Pendant… fairy dust not included.
Coloring in this photo is not 100% accurate

I have written up some pretty serious posts as of late, most of them reviews. So this week I want to lighten the mood up a bit and write about something a little more on the fun side.

As some of you may already know, I have had the Hot Caliber Renegade pendant on my Amazon universal wish list for quite some time now.  About a week ago, it arrived in my mail box.… Read the rest

SIG P238 REVIEW

A P238 pistol chambered for .380 ACP by Sig Sauer

A P238 pistol chambered for .380 ACP by Sig Sauer (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Four of the Sig P238s have come through my classes in the recent past, and I have had the opportunity to both shoot them as well as observe them in the hands of my students.

I realize that the P238 is by no means a newer gun, but with them recently becoming more popular with the female students in my classes, I would like say a few words regarding it’s functionality for both myself and my students.… Read the rest

THOUGHTS ON THE POPULAR STIGMA SURROUNDING GUN OWNERS – And What We’re Doing Wrong

There is a lot of bad stigma out there about gun enthusiasts. Everybody seems to assume that we are egotistical rednecks with an eagerness to shoot someone. The sad part is, this stigma came from somewhere (yes, a segment of the shooting community) , and many gun enthusiasts are not helping to correct it.

It’s really no wonder that he anti-gun people think we do not value human life. When so many people wear gun themed tee shirts with distasteful slogans, it in no way helps our cause to deflect this stigma, it instead deteriorates it.… Read the rest
