PUNJABI WOMEN TURNING TO GUNS

Our sisters in  Punjab, India are taking after their male counterparts in developing a love for firearms, and these women are taking it seriously.  Not only are these women obtaining  arms licenses, they are actually purchasing firearms and learning how to shoot too.

“Information acquired by a Faridkot-based journalist under the Right To Information Act (RTI) shows that in Punjab, some 31,300 arms licenses have been issued to women and 31,026 of them have in actuality purchased arms.

As per the RTI information, Patiala’s women lead the list with 1,361 of them acquiring arms licences, while the womenfolk of Jalandhar follow with 1,032 of them possessing arms licences.

WOMAN DEFENDS HERSELF FROM SEXUAL ASSULT WITH A HANDGUN

This story is a reminder to us all that concealed carry only works when we are actually carrying a gun.

I don’t usually post news stories on this website, but once in a while there is one worth sharing.

This woman had recently decided to start carrying a gun when  she was forced to use it to defend herself from attempted sexual assault at her work place. The  unidentified woman stated that the gun saved her life and that women should become familiar with a gun. Predators like easy victims, someone who will be helpless against them, but sometimes they pick the wrong lady.Read the rest

WHICH GUN FOR HOME DEFENSE?

One question I get asked very frequently is “What kind of handgun should I get for home defense”. My answer is always the same: “I wouldn’t get a handgun for home defense.” There are a handful of reasons why a pistol just isn’t the brightest idea for protecting against a home invasion.

The best option for home defense is a tactical 12 gauge shotgun.

Why use a handgun when you can use a long gun?

Any experienced shooter will tell you that they would rather bring a rifle to a gun fight then a handgun.… Read the rest

HOW TO KEEP YOUR UNDERARMOUR FRESH

Alot of shooters and law enforcement officers wear UnderArmour gear to keep warm and dry in those cold months. The problem is, after about a year or so of wearings and washings, the shirts seem to get a funky smell to them. I can’t describe it, it’s not necessarily terrible, it’s just not fresh. Instead of going out and buying a brand new UnderArmour top for $60, I decided to do a bit of experimenting with the washing machine. Low and behold, I found the magic chemistry (no, not the recipe for meth).… Read the rest

CORRECTION TO M16-14SF KNIFE REVIEW

I mentioned in the M16-14SF knife review that the legal maximum blade length is 3 inches in WA state. After being corrected by a reader, and researching it myself; I found that WA State does not in fact have any RCWs (Revised Code of Washinton) stating the legal limit on blade length. It is important to note however, that some cities have laws regarding blade length. For instance, maximum legal blade length in Seattle is 3.5inches. My apologies for the incorrect information initially given in the article, it has been edited to reflect the information brought  to light.… Read the rest

THIS WEEKS READING MATERIAL LIST

Image representing Google Reader as depicted i...

As an avid shooter, gun lover and personal protection blogger, reading is a huge part of my day. My Google reader is chalk full of only my very favorite blogs as I don’t have the time to read every new  gun related article that hits the internet. Lately, I have been finding some real pots of gold and precious gems of written literature by other bloggers. Some of these make me laugh, other make me raise my mug of tea in a toast to what the author is saying.

As I was having one of those “Precisely; what he said!” moments this morning (see the link to Two is One, One is None),  I decided it’s about time that I share these little treasures with all of you.  So, I am now christening every Tuesday as the official day I share a few of my personal favorite articles out of my Google reader. I hope these brighten your day!… Read the rest

CONFESSIONS OF A GUNAHAULIC – What is wrong with me?

So I was at the range teaching an Intro to Oregon (and FL) Concealed Carry  class on Saturday. Everything was pretty much status quoe, but when we got to the live shooting portion, I shot terrible on my demos. I was pretty irritated with myself; so after class I shot about 200 rounds of 9mm through my XDM  (also known as the Pink Gun of Shame) very slowly so I could concentrate on the fundamentals. There was about one second between each shot, so when I say very slowly, I mean very slowly.… Read the rest
