DRIVING ARMED – Facing The Law

Part of driving armed is preparing for the eventuality that you will have a run in with law enforcement. Even if you are driving the speed limit, and following all the traffic safety laws, there’s still a possibility you will get stopped. You never know when you and/or your vehicle might match the description of someone who just committed a violent crime. It happens to the best of us.

A Foundation for Success

First and foremost, it’s critical that you research, understand, and comply with all state and local laws regarding traveling with a firearm.

YOUR LONG AWAITED FIX – A NEW LIST OF GREAT READS

I have had a hectic summer, and sadly I haven’t been able to post as much as I would like to because of it. I used to publish a “Reading Material” list every week of great reads I’ve stumbled upon and have popped up in my Google Reader in the week prior. My hope is to bring that back, as it has been a few months since I’ve published the last list.

Now I know this is not on the correct day of the week to be publishing this (we usually shoot for Tuesdays), but better late than never right?… Read the rest

SPRINGFIELD XDs REVIEW

The Springfield Armory XD-S is a long-awaited derivative of the popular and proven XD series of pistols, and was designed for everyday carry and deep concealment. As an owner of several XD series pistols (and sometimes referred to as the crazy XD lady), I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of these to give it a try!

Specs:

The XD-S is a single-stack compact pistol chambered in .45ACP.  The overall length is 6.3” with a slim width of only 1”. … Read the rest

SHOOTING IN THE DARK – CRIMSON TRACE MIDNIGHT 3 GUN INVITATIONAL

I’ve mentioned Crimson Trace’s Midnight 3-Gun invitational several times on this website as well as social media. Were you an attendee, or involved a that the First Annual Concealed Carry Holster Fashion Show in Hudson, NY , you probably witnessed my eyes light up and a big Cheshire grin sweep over my face  as I talked about it at one point or another.  If you could see me sitting here, looking back at those outrageously fun nights, you’d see that there is still a glimmer of excitement on my face.… Read the rest

RUNWAY RUNDOWN : THE ORGANIZATION AND HOLSTER LINE-UP AT THE CC HOLSTER FASHION SHOW

While the first annual concealed carry holster fashion show was huge hit both in person and online, it wasn’t without a huge amount of preparation. In January of this year Trish Cutler had an idea, she emailed me and I knew right away that she was on to something really special. After seven months of intense networking, organization, coordination, and with help of many of other people – it became a reality. Trish told me that she was so busy planning the event, that her husband hadn’t eaten a home-cooked meal in months.… Read the rest

HEELS AND HOLSTERS – AN OVERVIEW OF THE CC HOLSTER FASHION SHOW

Although all the hype about  the Concealed Carry Holster Fashion Show was primarily about the runway show itself, there was really much more to the event than just heels and holsters.  In fact, there was an entire day and evening of education available for women interested in responsible firearm ownership and use

Some notes about the event :

  • The purpose of the event was to educate, empower and enable safe and responsible firearm ownership
  • Tickets sold out in advance – we expect a larger group next year!

LIVING IT UP AT CRIMSON TRACE MEDIA DAYS

Saturday night, my husband, Dave and I checked in to Hotel 50 in downtown Portland, Oregon to kick off the Crimson Trace Media Days. After meeting up with Shelley Rae from Western Shooting Journal, we headed down to Portland City Grill for happy hour and dinner with the media group as well some really great reps from Nike, Otis, Danner, and of course Iain and the gang from Crimson Trace. Leatherman was kind enough to sponsor our dinner and drinks and provide us each with a LED LENSER P3 flashlight.… Read the rest
