FANNY PACKS?

So there is a new trend that is sweeping the runways, the stars have been flaunting it and it infiltrated tourists’ closets back in the eighties……………The fanny pack is back!  I NEVER thought that in my right mind I could actually justify the existence of such a catastrophic accessory, but now that Marc Jacobs and Alice Roi have hopped on board, things are looking up for this sinking ship.

Now I have to be honest here, fanny packs are considered a viable concealed carry method.… Read the rest

CHOOSING A CARRY GUN – PART 3: RELIABILITY

Reliability is the single most important factor when choosing your carry gun.  Nothing will get you dead quicker than not being able to follow through with your decision to fight rather than flee.  So what makes for a reliable defense weapon?

I have this terrible, reoccurring nightmare. Sometimes the situation changes but the general idea and end result are always the same:

I’m in imminent danger and fear for my life. I pull my gun from my holster and point it at the threat, yelling “Get on the ground!

CHOOSING A CARRY GUN – PART 4: YOUR ABILITY TO USE THE GUN FAST AND EFFECTIVELY

Two more important considerations when choosing a sidearm for concealed carry are both the abilities of the gun, as well as your personal abilities to use that gun.

A few questions to consider: How long does it take for the trigger to reset? How about for the action to cycle? How fast can you acquire the sights on this gun? How fast can YOU shoot this gun while maintaining “combat accuracy”?

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE TRIGGER TO RESET?

Shooters have argued in forums over whether the “trigger reset” on a handgun is something to utilize or whether it is just another “problem” or another useless “something to think about”.  Trigger reset is an actual design element of the firearm – part of the mechanism known as the action that makes the gun fire.

CHOOSING A CARRY GUN – PART 2: SIZE AND CONCEAL ABILITY

One of the most obvious considerations when choosing a gun to carry concealed is the size and conceal-ability. A lot of people get stuck on this one aspect though. Instead of getting creative on conceal methods, they settle for a less than desirable size and caliber because the smaller gun is much more comfortable to carry.

There are a few factors to consider when we talk about size.

The Mental Factor:

90% of every battle is mental. If that’s the case, then we should do whatever we can to diminish the enemies fight by handicapping their mental capabilities.Read the rest

CHOOSING A CARRY GUN: PART 1

Which handgun is the right carry gun for you?

Well ladies, you can ask the guy behind the counter at the gun store or your significant other and he will probably suggest something small and light. Being a woman, I constantly have the clerks at the gun store trying to shove tiny sized and tiny caliber guns down my throat. For example: the Keltec .380. They assume I have no clue about ballistics or the laws of physics in general. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself.… Read the rest

EMMA’S GUN SAFETY MESSAGE

This is a video that I made with my niece when she was just 3 1/2 years old. Please note, we did NOT use a real firearm in the making of this video, we used an unloaded airsoft Glock. She is fascinated with guns, but completely understands and practices what she preaches in this video. Now that she is six, we have moved on to the 3 basic safety rules when handling a firearm:
#1) Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
#2) Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
#3) Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use it
and for her:
#4) NEVER TOUCH A GUN WITH OUT EXPRESS PERMISSION AND SUPERVISION FROM MOMMY, DADDY, AUNT GRACIE OR UNCLE DAVE.… Read the rest

12 TOOLS A WOMAN SHOULD NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT

Every woman has the list of things she never leaves behind when she leaves the house. Her “essentials” for optimum health and happiness on the road, at work, or wherever she’s at. Here is my list of tools a truly independent woman should never leave at home:

**Please note: I am not including the infamous “cell phone” as it is pretty much attached to our bodies anyways…**

#11) A Cute Little Dog: Okay, this isn’t really a tool. Nor is it essential.Read the rest

IN YOUR PURSE OR ON YOUR PERSON?

One of the most important decisions you to have to make, as a lady, is whether you are going to carry your handgun in your purse or on your body.

Carrying your pistol in your purse can be a lot easier than carrying one in a holster on your person. For example, you don’t have to worry about the conceal ability of the clothing you are wearing. Many companies even make purses designed for easy access to your gun, but superb conceal ability.Read the rest
