THE WHY AND HOW OF TRIGGER TRAINING

Yesterday I was reading about a device known as the Trigger Trainer. I wasn’t all that surprised when I saw it, as trigger-finger strength training is part of my daily routine. I know…I’m a geek.

Did you know that practicing a controlled trigger pull can actually improve your speed and accuracy? That’s enough reason for me to make it a usual activity. And if that isn’t enough motivation: the NRA claims that trigger control is the most important shooting fundamental. This is why I’ve decided to dedicate an entire post to trigger training.Read the rest

CONFESSIONS OF A [DEFESNSIVE] GUNOHAULIC – Where have all the good guns gone?

Hi. My name is Gracie, and I’m a gunohaulic. I am addicted to buying guns. I have a lot of firearms (more than 30, less than 50). That’s not all that many guns you say? Well, I agree.  But for a 24 year old girl who has only been acquiring them for 3 years, that’s a decent selction.

Most of my posts on this blog are informational, but today I’m deviating from the status quo to talk about guns on a more personal level.… Read the rest

A COP ESPOUSES CONCEALED CARRY

This is an excellent video about the importance of concealed carry. I would like to extend a thank you to Greg Willis for bringing this video to my attention.

Warning, this is a chilling video and can be very disturbing. It contains real audio footage of a murder.

This video is a great reminder that recorded 911 calls make excellent witnesses. Even if you can’t talk to the dispatcher, having one on the line to record the event audibly is a wise decision.… Read the rest

GUN FRIENDLY FASHION

For all my lovely ladies who haven’t already heard, Packing Pretty has put together a Pinterest board dedicated to feminine fashion that also works for concealment. All of the pieces are hand-picked by yours truly so you can build a gun-friendly wardrobe. Every woman is shaped differently, and I’m only an expert at my personal shape and dimensions so it is important to view each piece of the collection with the same critical eye you use when shopping from anywhere else.… Read the rest

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Hello everyone! I know I have been rather silent lately, but you don’t think I would let this holiday pass without recognition now do you?

I have noticed that a lot of people have been posting and chatting about today being National Women’s Day, when really, it is International Women’s Day. Today is the day we celebrate every woman across the world, and honor her hard work and accomplishments no matter how small or insignificant they may seem.

There are so many memorable women in both the past and present. … Read the rest

BUILDING YOUR RANGE TRAUMA KIT

I’m not a survivalist, I don’t have six months of canned food in my basement, heck I don’t even have a week’s worth of canned food in the pantry (that is probably something I should work on).  But I do understand and appreciate the spirit of preparedness. As a very active firearms instructor, heck, just as an avid shooter,  there is one area I can’t afford not to prepared in: that area is first aid.

First aid

Every shooter should have a first aid/trauma pack readily available.… Read the rest

FINDING THE RIGHT FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR

Yes, it’s me, teaching a Street Carry class.

Choosing a good firearms instructor is critical to getting effective and accurate training. There are so many options out there and the choices can be overwhelming. I would say that “shopping” for the right instructor is just like shopping for the right handgun. So many choices and opinions, but in the end it’s a very personal decision. Here are a few (I’m sure not all) considerations you should take into account when deciding who’s going to train you:

Is he/she the right instructor for the job? … Read the rest
