BREAKING BOARDS AND TAKING NAMES

Packing Pretty is a self-defense blog. While I primarily focus on my area of expertise (firearms and shooting), I want to make sure that several types of defense are introduced and covered here at Packing Pretty.

Just last weekend I had the pleasure of watching  an awesome demonstration at USWC Taekwondo by Amanda. The first thing I noticed about Amanda was that she exerted an aura of confidence, strength and determination that was seen and felt by all who watched her. … Read the rest

GRACIE SHOOTING THE BARRETT 50 BMG (VIDEO)

Shooting the Barrett 50 BMG, what can I say? AWESOME! It’s a life changing experience…and not just financially—The rifle alone costs around $10,000 (that’s before optics or any other accessories), and each time you pull the trigger you just shot a five dollar bill.

My thanks to Gregg Smith and  David Smith for making this possible! Watch Gregg as he points out where I hit. Enjoy!

CRKT M16-14SF-TANTO: KNIFE REVIEW AND VIDEO

Note: I made the following video to be watched as a supplement to the written review below. The video alone does not contain my complete review.

THE SPECS:

SIZE:

When I received the M16-14SF in the mail from CRKT, I was ecstatic about the size of the knife. As I always say with firearms and knives alike, bigger is better. The M16 surely meets any size standards I may have on a pocket folder. The one problem I face is that I cannot legally carry this knife out and about as the blade is 3.875 inches as my local city limit on blade length is 3.5in.… Read the rest

2×4 ASSULT

This is me in the last stage of the May 2011 Action Pistol Match…The idea is to stop the immediate threat with the 2×4 because that is what I have in my hand at the moment, then switch to my gun. I have never done this before, and this is why I fumbled getting the gun out of the holster. You will also notice I am shooting fairly slow, I shot slower to improve my accuracy in this stage. In some stages, speed is the main factor, in others accuracy is.… Read the rest

EMMA’S GUN SAFETY MESSAGE

This is a video that I made with my niece when she was just 3 1/2 years old. Please note, we did NOT use a real firearm in the making of this video, we used an unloaded airsoft Glock. She is fascinated with guns, but completely understands and practices what she preaches in this video. Now that she is six, we have moved on to the 3 basic safety rules when handling a firearm:
#1) Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction
#2) Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot
#3) Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use it
and for her:
#4) NEVER TOUCH A GUN WITH OUT EXPRESS PERMISSION AND SUPERVISION FROM MOMMY, DADDY, AUNT GRACIE OR UNCLE DAVE.… Read the rest
